There are scholarships out there for those 30 and above, but there are fewer of them compared to high school students. FAFSA.ed.gov will help you tap into need based financial aid from both the college and federal government. Second, ApplyTexas will help you tap into both college applications and state help. Third, the college financial aid website most times have a list of private scholarship sources available from companies and organizations. Finally, there are free membership scholarship search engines out there, and most are updated on a regular basis. Good luck!
im a ninth grade student in INDIA and i wanna Know more info about scholarship programmes available for students like me.
Gosh! scholarships confuse me! i think u are better of searching on google! www.google.com.
I’m just looking for a little evidence that people actually are awarded some of these? Before I go and work my tail off submitting essay after essay to scholarships that came up through fastweb or other online scholarship opportunities I thought I would check on here.
i would say the opposite of the other responder. having used fastweb, filling out application after application, plus writing 10+ scholarship essays when applying on fastweb i didn’t receive a single scholarship- even with a 4.0 GPA, 200 hours of logged community service, and a 32 on the ACT…
I take lots of AP classes, have a high GPA (4.5) and great SAT/ACT scores. But I’ve only been in like 4 clubs in my entire high school career. How do I get scholarship money when it seems like all they care about is volunteer work/experience?
There are plenty of merit scholarships. Try looking for scholarships from the school you want to attend.
I need to create a cover sheet for a scholarship application, but I have no idea how. I’ve searched the internet for formats, but I’ll I get are fax cover sheets and cover sheets for classes.
Also, what is a cover sheet? Does that entail your letter of intent? I’m so confused!
Thanks for your help.
Are you sure that *you* are the one who needs to make the cover sheet? Isn’t it already part of the scholarship application? It should be the first page of the application, the one that asks for the basic information. I’ve searched online for cover sheets and all that come up are part of applications for scholarships. I haven’t found any that are "standard formats" to use.
If you *are* required to make the cover sheet, check the application. They should have rules and guidelines of what a cover sheet should include.
Personally, out of all the scholarships I applied for only one required a cover sheet (it was an essay-contest thing), and their rules were:
[For mailed-in essays only: You MUST include a stapled cover sheet with the following information: your name; mailing address; e-mail address (if available); the name and address of your high school; topic selected (#1, 2 or 3 from the list above); your current grade level and (if applicable) the name of the teacher who assigned the essay.]
I wouldn’t exactly go by this, though. If I were you, I’d check the application first. If it doesn’t say anything on it, call the foundation or check their site if they have one. That should give you more accurate information and hopefully will not disqualify you.
Is this just a myth? It seems that there is a lot of competition for every scholarship. So if anyone knows about these "unclaimed" monies then could you please share? I find it hard to believe that all of these scholarships are just laying around and no one is applying for them.
There are tons of scholarships that no one applies for. I went to Barnes and Noble the beginning to middle of my Senior in high school and got a book called "The Scholarship Book." It is around $30-$50 and it lists every single scholarship available. And it is not just for seniors in high school but also for college students. The book also comes with a CD and there are even more scholarships on the CD. So you should definitely go get that book. Good Luck.
Please help me to find the universities and colleges in UK or Canada for finding full scholarship for teaching course and post graduate certificate.
Hi, if you are an intelligent person and have secured a minimum of 60% marks in the last course and your income is low then you can apply for the scholarship at www.nicelife.we.bs they do not provide cash assistance, but will provide you the help only through booklets, and cds etc FREE of Cost. There are only two conditions to fulfill. you must be intelligent and you must be earning a low amount or not earning at all.
Thanks
I thought grants were given by the federal government but my boyfriend doesn’t. The only reason I need information is because I’m moving in with him and he lives in a different state. He told me I couldn’t get a grant for college unless I lived in the state for at least 6 months but I don’t see why it would matter where I lived if its a federal grant. Does anyone know about this?
Thanks!
Your boyfriend is incorrect. Federal pell grants are just what they are called (Federal). It does not matter what state you live in to apply for pell grants using the FAFSA application at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Now you may be required to pay out of state tuition are the college that you will be attending because you will be not be considered a resident of that state.
Out of state tuition will be more expensive.
I know I am eligible for Dependents’ Educational Assistance through the Department of Veterans Affairs but can I receive Pell Grants at the same simultaneously.
In other words is it an "either/or" type thing with Pell Grants and Dependents’ Educational Assistance like i can only get one or the other? Can i get both?
Again, if you have a dependent of your own… since you said you have an 8 month old son, I doubt you are considered a dependent of your Dad for his vet benefits. But yes, you can get funding from a Pell grant and from many sources. Including scholarships you apply for and receive.
