where can i get current education scholarships or its information?

Posted by admin on February 26th, 2011 and filed under education scholarship | No Comments »

I would like to pursue postgraduate studies, but currently searching for legitimate scholarship opportunities worldwide. Help, if you have the information.

I only know the scholarship scheme to study in Britian. For post grad, its best to try on British Chevening Scholarships.

    Follow the link –> http://www.chevening.org

Or, alternatively, you can try British Council websites for a start.

    Follow the link –> http://www.britishcouncil.org

    http://www.educationuk.org/scholarships/

Big companies do offers scholarships for those subjects under their interest. Look out their websites for more information.

Embassy websites for any countries are also one of the best source to obtain links for education scholarships in their countries.

    -good luck!-

How Much can you earn each year working parttime if you are receiving a pell grant for college?

How Much can you earn each year working parttime if you are receiving a pell grant for college? In California
What is the maximum you can make to not have your pell grant effected because of taxes?

That’s a very subjective question. There is no income limit per se. It is different for every person. Your EFC (Expected Family Contribution) is calculated by the information you provide on the FAFSA. It takes into consideration your tax information (and your parents if you cannot answer "yes" to any of the dependency questions), your household information (how many are in your household and of those how many go to college), and savings you or your parents may have, if you or your family receive food stamps or the like, etc. So there is no one income limit in order to determine if you receive a Pell Grant.

If your EFC is between 0 and 4110 then you may be eligible for a Pell grant. The award would be between $4310 (for a 0 EFC) and $400 (for a 4110 EFC) if you go to school full time.

You should talk to a financial aid officer at your school for more information/guidance.

    Good luck!

how can parents get assisstance for college funding?

Posted by admin on February 26th, 2011 and filed under college funding | 4 Comments »

Im a single parent that is trying to put my son in college and I have a set income.

Matt gave you a reference to a good book that I am sure you will find informative. I will add that if you would not rather buy the book, I suspect your local public library holds a copy you can borrow. Telephone your public library and ask. The library probably holds other books you can borrow to help you understand possible college financial aid options.

For some online information, I refer you to:
US News and World Report – Education Section – home page:

    http://www.usnews.com/education

US News and World Report is a well-respected U.S. magazine. This is the link the the web pages Paying for College section:

    http://www.usnews.com/education/paying-for-college

The well-respected College Board (publisher of the College Blue Book series, managers of the SAT exams, providers of an excellent and safe scholarship search database, among other things) has some good information regarding figuring college costs, financial aid, etc. here:

    http://www.collegeboard.com/student/pay/index.html?affiliateId=rdr&bannerId=pay

This is the College Board link to information for parents:

    http://www.collegeboard.com/parents/

The well-respected U.S. finance publisher Kiplinger also has some good information for you. Be sure to look at all the links listed on the page and click on those that seem most relevant:

    http://www.kiplinger.com/reports/best-college-values/index.html?si=1

From personal experience — Do not go into "sticker shock" when looking at the costs (especially tuition) of some schools. I attended a private liberal arts college. The tuition was a lot higher than the costs of the state universities where I lived. However, I received excellent financial aid through the private college (a lot of scholarship/grant money I did not need to pay back), which resulted in my education costs being much less than what it would have been had I attended a state univ. Many private/independent colleges have sizable endowment funds ("a big pot of money") that they use to provide scholarships to their students, compared to what many state universities have available.

    Best wishes

Can my father cut the college funding I get from him being retired air force?

Posted by admin on February 19th, 2011 and filed under college funding | 1 Comment »

My father who is in his 50s and retired colonel from the air force is trying to threaten me into doing things he wants, by telling me he will cut my college funding im getting.

Being a military Dependant, am I entitled to the funding regardless of his wishes, or can he take my funding away?

You will obtain the best information about this if you speak (via telephone or in person) with a financial aid counselor at your school you attend or will be attending.

Since you apply for the financial aid and your father cannot stop being a retired Air Force Colonel . . .
    Think about it.

It can be a "challenge" having a retired military officer as a parent, since he/she spent his/her career taking and giving orders, unconditionally. Hint: My Navy family cousins, always said "Yes, Sir" to their father. "The Admiral," and then did what they wanted and made sure he didn’t know it.

    Best wishes

Michael Jackson – If Everyone Cared(my message to the world)
This video is Inspired form Michael Jackson’s Heal The Kids – Oxford Speech,
    Oxford University, March 2001..

Michael Jackson is a true humanitarian, an example to us all. He has devoted much time and money to a wide range of charities. He loves children and takes time out when touring secretly visting sick children. He also has special rooms at his home Neverland for sick and terminally ill children to stay over. He was listed in the 2000 edition of the Guiness Book Of World Records for breaking the world record for the “Most Charities Supported By a Pop Star”. It states that Michael Jackson has supported 39 charity organizations either with monetary donations through sponsorships of their projects or by participating in their silent auction.

I have made an alphabetical list of known charities that Michael Jackson has individualy supported publically throughout his career. Michael Jackson also helped set up Heal The World Foundation.
